All young people participate in Power Group, a weekly socialization session led by social workers that uses group work activities and theme-based content to build coping skills, enhance self-esteem, reduce isolation, and remove obstacles to learning. At the heart of CAS-Carrera Mental Health services is a team of licensed CAS-Carrera social workers with extensive youth and adolescent backgrounds who:
- Are dedicated to a single age cohort, thereby developing a long-term relationship with young people towards the goal of building trust, reducing risk-taking and reinforcing that parenthood is best after a college education;
- Provide individual, group, and family counseling, crisis intervention, conflict mediation, and assessment and referral services to participants and their families;
- Collaborate with Family Life and Sexuality Educators to deliver comprehensive programming; and
- Are on-call 24/7 to meet the needs of participants and their families.
