Carrera Model Celebrates 20 Years
On September 30, 2004, The Children’s Aid Society (CAS) celebrated 20 years of success of its acclaimed teen pregnancy prevention program at the Harvard Club of New York. Nearly 150 guests joined Jane Fonda; Philip Coltoff, Children’s Aid’s CEO; Dr. Michael Carrera, founder and director of the program; honoree Mrs. Milton Stern and past graduates of the program in this gala evening, which raised almost $600,000 for this effective program. The program has served nearly 10,000 youth in some of New York City’s most disadvantaged communities.
At the event, Jane Fonda professed her admiration for Dr. Michael Carrera and the CAS Adolescent Pregnancy Prevention Program. Fonda, herself an advocate for teen pregnancy prevention and founder of the Georgia Campaign for Adolescent Pregnancy Prevention, spoke glowingly of the holistic approach taken by the CAS program and the work to which Dr. Carrera has dedicated his life.
Mrs. Milton Stern, a key supporter of The Children’s Aid Society’s teen pregnancy prevention program for its entire 20-year history, was also honored and received an award from Philip Coltoff.
Hugh Hildesley, an auctioneer from Sotheby’s, conducted a spirited live auction of unique items.
